Job description

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Transport Planner to join a growing Engineering Consultancy in Leicestershire as an Associate Transport Planner.
 
The main focus of the role is to join the Traffic and Transportation section and to provide client's appropriate evidence led consideration of the traffic impacts of development proposals and measures to remove or mitigate any such impact by use of analytical and engineering judgement.  If you are an experienced Transport professional looking for an exciting opportunity, then this position could be the perfect role for you.
 
Key role responsibilities:
- Management and development of the Transportation team.
- Design project management, co-ordination with other disciplines / offices, client liaison, fee proposals and invoicing.
- Working collaboratively with engineers and other technicians to deliver quality evidence led reports by a variety of measures.
- Business development with existing clients and creating new contacts/opportunities.
- Implement high design standards and deliver BIM (Building Information Modelling) solutions to projects.
- The mentoring and supervision of Transport planning apprentices, technicians and engineers.
 
Key skills, experience and attributes required:
- A minimum qualification of a degree in Transport planning or similar.
- Proficient user of AutoCAD and related software including swept path analysis.
- Have the ability to prepare CAD drawings to a standard suitable for pre planning purposes.
- Use various computer software programs which will include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Access), AutoCAD and more specialist software including; PICADY/ARCADY (Junctions 9), LINSIG, TRICS and TEMPRO.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of national and local planning and highways design standards and ability to interpret and communicate these policies effectively.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with colleagues and clients.
- Ability to work within a team and also able work under own initiative.
- Excellent organisational skills and able to prioritise workload.
