My client has grown to become a consultancy that offers a broad range of multi-disciplinary engineering services to a diverse client base.
They have an ambitious but sustainable growth agenda and a central part of this centres on expanding their Development Planning discipline from their existing Poole office by recruiting an Associate / Associate Director.
The existing Development Planning team, which is based in their Midlands HQ, works with private and public sector clients, architects, planners and other property professionals across all sectors. They undertake Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, and provide key transport inputs to develop Travel Demand Management Strategies, Preliminary Designs, Spatial Plans and Masterplans. Clients include master developers, landowners, housebuilders, retailers, health trusts, universities, local authorities and contractors.
As a senior member of the company your roles and responsibilities will fall into three main areas:
Growth
·Develop and grow a development planning business from the office in Poole and take responsibility for delivering business targets.
·Liaise with current and proposed clients to develop repeat and new business for the company.
·Establish strong working relationships with other internal teams, particularly the development planning team in their HQ.
·Prepare detailed client briefs or fee proposals for client submission and contribute to major bids.
Management
·Take a leading role in the delivery of Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans, Masterplans and other technical reports to support the development of transport strategies for clients.
·Take overall responsibility for delivery of projects to contractual arrangements and the financial agreed outcome.
·Liaise with senior stakeholders, including the clients' project directors (or equivalent) to resolve issues early and safeguard our interests.
·Present to clients and key stakeholders in a professional, responsive and client-focused manner.
·Act as a Project Manager/Director as necessary, including monitoring financial performance;
·Ensure technical content and quality of output produced is in line with the project brief.
·Attend Project Progress meetings along with necessary client meetings.
·Provide technical knowledge and leadership experience across a range of developments.
·Supervise work carried out by other members of the team, ensuring that it is to the appropriate technical standard and is delivered to programme.
·Be a point of contact for clients, architects, planners and other professionals throughout the project.
Experience / Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
·The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a proven background in work-winning and wider business development acumen. From a technical perspective, experience in development-related transport analysis and assessment, with wider experience in project management and mentoring and coaching skills is essential.
·Unrivalled experience in the preparation of development-related Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Access Studies, preliminary design and transport-related master planning.
·High degree of competence in project management and commercially aware.
·A proven record of dealing with clients, local authorities and other regulatory bodies.
·Experience in understanding client briefs, developing fee proposals and effectively delivering project work.
·Excellent presentation and technical writing skills are required.
·Have a strong commercial awareness and demonstrate the importance of effective financial management.
·Have experience in business development and managing client expectations.
·Membership of a relevant professional institution (CIHT, CILT, TPS, ICE etc).
Preferred Qualifications / Not Essential
·Experience in the preparation of Proof of Evidence and giving evidence at Planning Inquiries.
·A degree in an analytical subject such as engineering, geography, mathematics, economics, planning or similar.
·A Masters's degree in a relevant subject is desirable.
