Senior/Associate Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Newcastle, UK
Company: Multidisciplinary Consultancy (Geotechnical, Civil & Structural)
Position Overview:
My client is seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior or Associate Infrastructure Engineer to join their Civil Engineering Design team in Newcastle. This is a permanent position in which you will play a pivotal role in leading and expanding a small, talented team of engineers within an established multidisciplinary consultancy. You will work closely with senior leadership to help grow the Civil Engineering team, delivering high-quality projects and developing strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
·Team Leadership & Development: Oversee and mentor a small team of engineers and senior engineers, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and career growth. Assist in expanding the team by identifying key hires and fostering a collaborative working environment.
·Project Management: Lead the delivery of a range of civil infrastructure projects, from feasibility to detailed design, including highways, drainage, earthworks, and utilities. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
·Client Liaison: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and external stakeholders. Act as a key point of contact, ensuring that client expectations are met and exceeded.
·Design & Technical Excellence: Develop, review, and approve civil infrastructure designs, utilizing industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroDrainage. Ensure designs are compliant with relevant standards, guidelines, and regulations.
·Business Development: Work with senior leadership to identify new business opportunities, develop proposals, and assist with bids to grow the Civil Engineering division. Leverage existing networks to bring in new clients and projects.
·Quality & Compliance: Ensure all designs and project deliverables comply with industry regulations, local authority guidelines, and the company's quality management processes.
Qualifications and Skills:
·Education: A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline. A professional qualification such as Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) is highly desirable.
·Experience: Extensive experience (8+ years) in civil infrastructure design, with a strong background in highways, drainage, and earthworks. Prior experience in a senior or associate role within a consultancy environment is preferred.
·Technical Proficiency: Proficient in using industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroDrainage for infrastructure design.
·Leadership: Strong leadership and management skills, with a proven ability to mentor and develop a team, manage project delivery, and engage with clients at a senior level.
·Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely to clients, stakeholders, and team members.
·Business Acumen: Demonstrated ability to contribute to business growth through strong client relationships and business development activities.
