Traffic Signals Engineer
 
Carrington West are delighted to be assisting its client in its search for a Traffic Signals Engineer to join their busy team based in South Yorkshire.   
 
Key Skills of Traffic Signals Engineer
·Proficient in the use of basic MS Office applications.
·Ability to independently develop traffic signal control solutions to complex traffic problems.
·Possess a detailed knowledge of fixed time and SCOOT UTC database preparation and validation.  
·Able to develop and validate fixed time and SCOOT UTC traffic control plans.
·Able to isolate causes of traffic congestion on the UTC corridors and implement proactive/ reactive measures.
 
The main responsibilities of the Traffic Signals Engineer
·Able to develop and value engineer detailed traffic signal designs for construction from self-incepted solutions & draft detailed traffic signal installation drawings for construction using AutoCAD
·Able to independently draft works specification documents pursuant to the delivery of major/minor works projects and/or term contracts.
·Able to prepare schedules for procurement from extant contracts and validate invoices for payment.
·Able to prepare complex specifications incorporating, MOVA, UTC/CL, PSV Priority modes of operation.
·Possesses a comprehensive understanding of the risks inherent to the delivery of both new works and maintenance led activities in terms of Health & Safety, Financial, Reputational.
·In collaboration with others, possesses the skills and experience to project manage major traffic signal engineering schemes including the preparation and administration of works programs to agreed timescales and budgets.
 
In addition to the above, the engagement with the following service duties will be expected
·Investigate & resolves complaints from elected members, the business community and members of the public.
·Engage within the daily fault management duty giving first line support to the maintenance contractor when required.
·Carry out effective monitoring and fine tuning of very complex traffic signal control installations.
