Highways & Civil Engineering Designer
Location: Cheshire | Salary: £35,000-£38,000
Reporting to: Design Team Leader

We're seeking a driven and detail-oriented designer to help deliver a wide variety of innovative projects-ranging from cycle infrastructure and junction upgrades to public realm enhancements and local highway schemes valued up to £5 million.

Your Role
As a key member of our team, you'll manage projects from initial feasibility through to detailed design and on-site implementation, including overseeing the Traffic Regulation process. You will:
·Deliver feasibility studies and detailed designs for diverse highways and civil engineering schemes, ensuring compliance with current legislation and best practice.
·Apply engineering expertise and judgement to solve complex problems and develop effective, practical solutions.
·Plan, programme, and coordinate the delivery of design work, ensuring quality, timeliness, and cost-effectiveness.
·Monitor and support the execution of works or services, helping ensure successful on-time, on-budget delivery.
·Engage and communicate clearly with stakeholders, including Elected Members, Parish Councils, and the wider public.
About You
We're looking for someone with a strong technical foundation and a collaborative mindset. You will ideally have:
·HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) - desirable.
·Membership of a relevant professional institution (e.g., EngTech or working towards IEng) - desirable.
·Proven experience in highway/traffic legislation, design standards, and best practice - essential.
·Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D - essential.
·Strong IT skills, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook - essential.
·Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
