Exciting Opportunity for a Traffic Engineer in East Yorkshire


An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Traffic Engineer to join my client's transport team in East Yorkshire on a temporary basis. This is a key role supporting the delivery of a wide range of traffic management and engineering functions, with a strong focus on Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs). The successful candidate will work closely with area teams, elected members and other stakeholders, contributing to the design and delivery of traffic schemes, road markings, traffic signs and road safety initiatives. The role offers a hybrid working arrangement with 2 days per week in the office.


The main duties of the Traffic Engineer include:


·Leading on the preparation and delivery of Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs).
·Liaising with area teams, elected members and internal departments to progress traffic schemes.
·Designing and delivering traffic engineering measures including road markings and traffic signs.
·Supporting the development of road safety and traffic management initiatives.
·Responding to enquiries from members, stakeholders and the public.
·Ensuring schemes are delivered in line with relevant legislation, policy and best practice.
·Managing multiple projects and prioritising workloads to meet programme deadlines.


The Traffic Engineer will have key experience in:


·Traffic engineering and TRO delivery within a local authority environment.
·Traffic management, road markings and traffic sign design.
·Stakeholder engagement, including working with elected members.
·Using relevant traffic engineering software and IT systems.
·Working independently and managing their own workload.
