Job description

Technical Support Engineer
My client are looking for a Transmission Technical Support Engineer to support their growing technical support services team. You will provide 2nd/3rd line mission critical support to our Managed Services customers, working independently and with the support of your colleagues, Network Operations Centre and Field Engineering teams.
 
As part of the role, you will be:
 
- Prioritising and resolving faults within agreed SLA's
- Providing regular updates to external customers on the progress of faults
- Keeping fault tickets up-to-date
- Provide system solutions for customer builds and network upgrades
- Provide technical consultancy to the account teams for tender responses
 
The following skills/experience are essential:
 
- A minimum of 10 years Installation, Commissioning and Support experience in the Telecommunications industry
- Expert technical and fault finding skills on a wide range of WDM products such as Huawei OSN1800, Ekinops, Packetlight, Ciena 6500, 6100, 3900 and ADVA FSP3000 R7.
- Highly experienced in PDH/SDH theory and fault resolution from a wide range of vendors equipment such as Nokia Dynanet / Synfonet, Keymile UMUX / XMC, DNWP Connection Master, Marconi SMA / OMS or equivalent.
- Working knowledge in Data Networking including Layer 2 services, routing and security.
- Networking certifications desirable: CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network+
- ITILv3/v4 Foundation in Service Management
 
What you will get in return:
