Job description
Are you an experienced Senior Structural Engineer looking for a new challenge in a dynamic and growing consultancy, where you can lead innovative projects across multiple sectors?
An established and growing structural engineering consultancy in Newcastle is looking to appoint a Senior Structural Engineer to support the delivery of a diverse and technically challenging project portfolio.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to take a leading role within a collaborative team, working across a wide range of sectors and contributing to both design and project delivery.
The Role
You will be responsible for leading structural design projects from concept through to completion, providing technical expertise, and supporting the development of junior engineers. The role will involve regular client interaction and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
·Lead structural design on a range of projects across multiple sectors
·Produce detailed calculations, drawings, and technical reports
·Manage projects through all stages of design and construction
·Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians
·Liaise with clients, architects, and contractors
·Ensure designs comply with current UK standards and regulations
Project & Technical Experience
The practice works across all sectors and has in-depth experience in:
·Reinforced concrete design and detailing
·Steelwork design
·Masonry design
·Timber design
·Retaining walls
·All types of foundations
·Heritage and refurbishment work
·Structural surveys and reports
·Specialist structural design, including sculpture foundations and integrated extensions
·Working to BIM Level 2 requirements
Requirements
·Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
·Chartered, or working towards Chartership (IStructE or ICE)
·Strong experience across multiple materials (RC, steel, masonry, timber)
·Proven background delivering UK-based projects
·Good communication and client-facing skills
·Proficient in relevant structural design software
