Role: Technical Manager
Location: Leeds
Salary: up to £40,000 - £46,000 p/a plus package
 
Im looking to speak to Project Managers or Technical Managers in the Surveying industry that are looking for their next challenge.
Im working with a UK leading Surveying company that operate across the UK specialising in Highways, Utilities, Construction and Energy sectors through to Property, Education and Aviation.
Purpose of the role:
Understand and contribute to the business's strategic aims - leading projects to improve current technical process and implement new equipment and technology to improve efficiency. The scope of this role encapsulates areas including Land and Utility Surveying and Gas Surveying.
 
Duties & Responsibilities:
 
·Supporting Project Managers and Business Development Managers in quoting projects, requiring technical expertise.
·Maintain an awareness of new technology available on the market and feed information and knowledge into group strategic discussions regarding future business focus.
 
Leading and delivering process improvement projects:
 
·Work with the Survey Managers and Training & Quality Manager to understand the root causes of current problems within the business and changes needed to improve efficiency/profitability.
·Work with others in the team to establish solutions to problems and/or improvements to existing processes; i.e - process change, technology or equipment change, training documentation/video creation, training session organised.
·Create documentation/training materials/templates for any changes made to our processes and roll this out to the team.
·Maintain an awareness of technical developments in survey equipment and techniques

Employee Induction and Training:
 
·Introduce new employees to the technical processes relevant to their role, and complete training and support where required.
·Work together with the Training and Quality Manager to review current training materials and create improved or new content - in one training library.
·Organising and/or delivering training sessions to in-house surveyors, as required.  
·Supporting field surveyors with equipment and processing troubleshooting
·Mentoring for CICES ADS candidates

Leading and delivering projects to introduce new technology, to:
 
·Experiment with new technologies to determine their value to our current processes and to identify new business development opportunities.
·Schedule people into the planner to undertake trials and training sessions in cooperation with operational requirements.
·Documenting and reporting on the results of trials of software and equipment, to support the decision-making process.
·Design the implementation plan for any new equipment, software, or other technology upgrades/changes.
·Design and provide training and support to employees as part of the implementation of new equipment or technology.
 
Person Specification:


·Strong technical knowledge in at least one Survey specialism (Land or Utility Surveying)
·10 years + experience within the surveying industry
·Formal Surveying Qualification
