Job description
Exciting Opportunity for a Construction Site Agent
This is a pivotal role within the Suffolk Highways Construction Team. You'll support the delivery of key planned works as part of a long-term contract with Suffolk County Council. This position offers the chance to make a real impact on local infrastructure, ensuring safer, more effective roads for residents, businesses, and all road users.
The main duties of the Construction Site Agent are:
· Manage and supervise schemes on-site to ensure that work is carried out safely, on time, within budget and to required HSEQ standards.
· Organise labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor resources efficiently.
· Liaise with stakeholders including network managers, local authorities, designers, and community groups.
· Ensure Construction Phase Plans, method statements, and safe systems of work are in place before starting on site.
· Ensure that in-house and subcontractor site personnel are competent and fully trained.
· Take responsibility for the commercial performance of projects in collaboration with commercial teams.
· Maintain accurate site records including diaries, works activity logs, resource allocations, and as-built information.
· Support Scheme Delivery Managers in developing construction programmes, phasing plans, and method statements.
· Work closely with key supply chain partners to ensure collaborative and efficient delivery.
· Contribute to Early Contractor Involvement, buildability reviews, and traffic management planning.
· Participate in Value Management and Value Engineering processes.
· Ensure full compliance with all processes, procedures, reporting, and performance requirements.
The Construction Site Agent will have key experience in:
· Holding SMSTS or IOSH, along with a valid CSCS card.
· Having an HNC or Degree in Civil Engineering (desirable, not essential).
· Delivering highways or civil infrastructure projects safely and effectively.
· Managing resources and costs within project budgets.
· Demonstrating innovative thinking and continuous improvement.
· Communicating clearly and professionally with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
· Holding a clean, full UK driving licence.
