I'm recruiting on behalf of a leading national highways contractor who are delivering a diverse portfolio of schemes across the North West. With a strong pipeline of work and a major programme ramping up, they're looking for an experienced Senior Engineer to join the team on an initial 6month contract, with every expectation of extension.
 
The Role
 
This is a key position within a fastpaced delivery environment, supporting the daytoday smooth running of works-predominantly during nighttime operations. You'll act as the vital link between the day and night teams, ensuring continuity, clarity, and control across all engineering and delivery activities.
 
You'll be responsible for:
 
- Overseeing the nightly delivery of works and ensuring seamless handovers between shifts
- Supporting planning and programming to keep works on track and compliant
- Monitoring progress and providing technical guidance to site teams
- Coordinating with other delivery lot providers to maintain alignment across the wider programme
- Managing and engaging with subcontractors to ensure safe, efficient, highquality delivery
- Providing technical input and problemsolving support as issues arise
 
In addition to highways works, there is potential for involvement in civils infrastructure on an
upcoming substation scheme, offering variety and exposure to a broader engineering environment.
 
What We're Looking For
 
- A proven Senior Engineer with strong highways experience
- Comfortable working predominantly night shifts
- Confident managing subcontractors and liaising with multiple delivery partners
- Strong planning, organisational, and communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously and maintain high standards under time pressure
- Someone who thrives in a dynamic, collaborative, programmedriven environment
 
Rate is dependant on experience.
