Are you an experienced Traffic Management or Control Systems Engineer with a strong background in rail signalling?

Do you have the technical expertise to shape and assure complex CCS solutions at concept design stage for a high-speed railway?

Salary: Up to £83,000 (London) / £77,000 (Birmingham) DOE
Location: London preferred, Birmingham considered for the right candidate
Closing date: 16th February

This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role in the development of next-generation rail systems. You’ll be working at concept design stage on ETCS with Automatic Train Operation and a fully integrated Traffic Management System, helping define solutions that have never before been delivered on a high-speed railway.

The role sits at the heart of technical decision-making, setting future standards and ensuring solutions meet the needs of end users including signallers and operators. You’ll work closely with contractors, system leads and stakeholders to guide the direction of the Control Systems and Traffic Management subsystem from the ground up.

Essential experience

  • In-depth knowledge of signalling and control principles
  • Strong understanding of Traffic Management Systems and rail control environments
  • Experience developing or delivering Traffic Management or control systems
  • Proven ability to lead teams and engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Understanding of ergonomics and human-machine interface principles
  • Awareness of CSM-RA and cyber security considerations

Desirable

  • Understanding of interfaces with ETCS, Interlocking and ATO systems
  • Experience in detailed design, testing and commissioning
  • Background in other complex control system environments such as aviation or nuclear
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership
