Senior Commercial Manager
Ready to take a leading commercial role on one of the UK's most significant infrastructure programmes?
We are looking for both a Senior Commercial Manager and a Project Commercial Director to join a major project in Essex on a freelance basis.
 
This is a rare opportunity to play a key role during a critical mobilisation phase on a nationally important infrastructure scheme. The project is fast-paced, forward-thinking, and focused on innovative, low-emissions delivery.
You'll be joining an established and collaborative commercial team, contributing at either a senior delivery level or at a strategic leadership level, depending on your experience.
·Senior Commercial Manager - hands-on commercial delivery, contract management, and cost control
·Project Commercial Director - strategic oversight, stakeholder leadership, and direction of the commercial function
Both roles operate in a hybrid working environment within a dynamic project setting.
 
What you'll be doing
Project Commercial Director:
·Act as the primary commercial lead and key point of contact for clients and stakeholders
·Provide strategic direction across the commercial function
·Lead, coordinate, and guide a commercial team
·Manage high-level interfaces and ensure alignment with project objectives
Senior Commercial Manager:
·Manage day-to-day commercial activities across the project
·Administer contracts and oversee procurement processes
·Drive cost control, reporting, and commercial performance
·Support delivery teams in achieving financial and contractual objectives
 
What we're looking for
·Proven experience in a major projects environment
·Strong commercial acumen and contract knowledge
·Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
For Project Commercial Director:
·Demonstrable leadership at a senior level
·Experience managing teams and driving commercial strategy
·Confidence operating in complex, high-profile environments
For Senior Commercial Manager:
·Strong hands-on commercial delivery experience
·Ability to manage contracts and support project delivery teams
Experience within highways is beneficial but not essential.
