Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to meet the growing portfolio of transport planning projects within one of the UK's leading independent consultancies. The company is a specialist design practice with an integrated approach to Transport, Placemaking and Engineering. Their holistic approach ensures both innovative and deliverable design solutions and supports their vision to create better places through good design. 
 
The role will require working across a range of different projects although the focus will initially be on meeting our commitments on developing planning projects.
 
The ideal candidate
Their ideal candidate will be educated to degree level or above (Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Maths, Science, Geography etc.) with significant experience in development led Transport Planning. They should have experience of delivering and project managing small to medium sized commissions (depending on experience and role) with both public and private sector clients with only minimal supervision required. As a confident communicator verbally and in writing, they will be required to present and communicate their ideas clearly and concisely both internally and also to a wide range of external audiences. Chartership with a relevant professional body would be advantageous but not essential.
 
They will also have:
·Considerable experience in development focused transport planning
·Significant experience in the production of Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans
·Significant experience of undertaking access feasibility studies and design
·Knowledge and experience of applying design guidance such as Manual for Streets and LTN 1/20
·An excellent understanding of the planning process in England
·Excellent communication skills and interface with clients
·Ability to train junior staff
·Ability to contribute / lead on bids and financial proposals
·Excellent Project Management skills
·Strong technical background with experience of industry specific software (ideally some of Junctions 9, Linsig, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, VISSIM)
