Job description

Senior Infrastructure Engineer
I'm currently working with a well-established independent consultancy that's expanding its Bristol team and looking to bring on an experienced Engineer or Senior Engineer. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a company with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality infrastructure design across a wide range of development projects.
The Role
You'll be involved in the design and delivery of highway and drainage infrastructure for new developments of varying size and complexity. Working alongside project managers and a multidisciplinary team, you'll help shape practical, innovative solutions that meet client expectations and industry standards.
Key responsibilities include:
·Producing technical highway and drainage designs in support of S104, S38, and S278 applications.
·Carrying out technical assessments for development proposals.
·Reviewing drawings, calculations, and reports prepared by junior colleagues.
·Mentoring and supporting less experienced engineers.
·Preparing reports, presentations, and technical submissions for clients and stakeholders.
·Managing projects with minimal supervision to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.
·Liaising with clients and project managers to coordinate tasks effectively.
·Keeping up to date with industry trends, design standards, and best practice.
About You
We're looking for someone with strong technical knowledge and the ability to contribute to complex infrastructure projects from day one.
Requirements:
·Degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering or related field.
·Minimum 2 years' UK-based experience in development-related infrastructure engineering.
·Good working knowledge of relevant design standards (DMRB, Manual for Streets, Sewers for Adoption, etc.).
·Proven experience with S38, S278, and S104 processes.
·Proficiency in drainage design (using Microdrainage or Causeway Flow).
·Ability to produce flood risk assessments and drainage strategies.
·Strong AutoCAD and Civils 3D skills.
·Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
·A full UK driving licence, with flexibility to travel to site when required.
What's On Offer
This is an opportunity to join a collaborative, supportive team in an established Bristol office. The role comes with:
·Flexible and hybrid working options.
·Structured support for professional development and chartership.
·Competitive salary and benefits package.
·25 days annual leave (increasing with service).
·Pension scheme, life assurance, and cycle-to-work scheme.
·Professional subscriptions paid.
·A positive working environment with regular social and team events.
Why This Role?
This consultancy offers the best of both worlds - the stability and reputation of a long-standing practice, combined with the agility and close-knit culture of a smaller team. You'll have the chance to work directly with senior leadership and clients, making a visible impact on projects. The firm values creativity, collaboration, and career growth, and provides a clear pathway for progression.
