Job description

We are currently looking for a Senior Highways Engineer to join one of the fastest growing consultancies in the UK. The role will offer flexible working and the ability to work remotely when needed.
 
As a Senior Highways Engineer, you will have significant experience in the development and detailed design of highway maintenance and / or improvement scheme designs in accordance with the DMRB using AutoCAD and  Civils 3D.
 
You will join a vibrant team and work on major prestigious projects within Kent and across the UK.
 
The role
·Proven ability to be able to produce highways and traffic related design deliverables including documents and drawings.
·To provide support to management on a range of tasks to our clients.
·Production and checking of all deliverables (documents & drawings).
·Support other  employees with technical advice on Highway Engineering projects.
·Involved in the management of projects and to led on the delivery of projects. To ensure projects are delivered on time and to budget. Programme management and financial management of projects.
·To lead the engineering input at all stages of a project from conceptual design, through the project cycle to site monitoring.
·Support junior staff with their training and development and assisting in the team management.
·Conduct any liaison or consultation with statutory authorities or undertakers as necessary to implement the construction of the project.
 
The ideal candidate
·Accredited degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) and Master's is beneficial.
·Consideration given to significant relevant experience in lieu of specified education and professional qualification.
·In depth understanding of Highway & Traffic Design and design standards.
·Knowledge of contract procurement is highly desirable
·Demonstrableknowledge and experience of developing feasibility, and preliminary design to traffic/local roads problems which include Alignment, Drainage, Pavement, Road Restraint System, Road Signs & Markings.
·Knowledge or awareness of walking & cycling design, traffic calming, Healthy Streets, junction design, and carriageway renewal design.
·Working knowledge of MS Project.
·Working knowledge of Civils 3D.
·Experience in supporting junior members such as CAD Technicians & Graduates.
·Good project management skills and financial management.
·Chartered or working towards chartership with a professional institution
