An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Highway Engineer to come and join a busy client in the Manchester area on a long-term contract basis.

The main duties of the experienced Senior Highway Engineer are:

• A good understanding of Highway Design and delivery of Highway Design schemes / projects. Experience of the various design phases and an ability to check schemes carried out by others.
• Working with internal and external partners to support the development of the strategic pipeline of projects over the next 5 to 10 years in alignment with the City's plans and aspirations for growth
• Writing initial project briefs to provide to the MCC Highway Design Team so they can provide options / proposed solutions.
• Commissioning feasibility studies from the Highways Design Team and assessing whether the solution put forward will deliver the desired outcomes. Assessing Schemes for strategic fit, maintainability etc.
• Approval of all Highways Improvement Schemes. Checking Highway Schemes from a Client Team perspective to ensure that schemes / projects are fit for purpose and in line with the original scope / request.
• Attending project development meetings to assess project designs throughout the various project design phases to ensure projects are in line with the original brief and not creating a negative impact on the local network.
• Ensuring that post scheme monitoring is carried out to assess the required deliverables are achieved.
• Attending Strategic meetings to support development of Asset Management and support with the development of Highways Operational Policies
• Preparing new processes to support the development of the Highways Client Team
• Have a good understanding of budgets, governance, and working within a highly political environment.
