Senior Highway Engineer
 
Are you a Senior Highway Engineer with a passion for sustainable growth, infrastructure, and highway improvements? I am recruiting for a Highway Engineer to join clients Transport Strategy Team.
 
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Engineer, you will:
·Lead a Small Team: Supervise Engineers and Technicians, offering guidance and mentorship, and conducting performance reviews to ensure high standards.
·Oversee Highway Approvals: Manage technical approvals for highway works related to major projects like Sizewell C.
·Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work with local planning authorities, developers, and public stakeholders, representing the Highway Authority in meetings and on-site consultations.
·Manage Legal Agreements: Advise on Section 38 and 278 Highways Act agreements, ensuring compliance with layout, drainage, and construction standards.
·Health & Safety: Ensure that all designs comply with CDM, Health and Safety legislation, and project standards.

Qualifications and Skills:
·Degree (NVQ Level 6) or equivalent experience in Engineering.
·Incorporated or Chartered Engineer, or equivalent experience.
·Proven experience in highway design and knowledge of Section 38 and 278 agreements.
 
Personal Qualities:
·Strong leadership skills with a commitment to sustainable transport.
·Skilled communicator, able to explain technical issues clearly to a diverse audience.
·Collaborative and resilient, with the ability to navigate complex and sometimes contentious situations.
 
Specialist Knowledge:
·Expertise in legal, policy, and technical aspects of planning and highway engineering.
·Proficiency in software like Microsoft Office and AutoCAD (desirable)
