Job description

We are looking for a Senior Drainage Engineer to produce comprehensive and accurate drainage designs, reports and documentation in accordance with our client's scheme brief and in line with the time and budgetary allocations. As the Senior Drainage Engineer, you will contribute to the overall delivery of the workload of the drainage team, including feasibility reports and design reviews of third-party designs.
 
You will be required to work in our clients office at least 1 day per week. This position falls inside IR35.
 
Task/Responsibilities
 
- The Drainage Senior Engineer will identify and apply appropriate methodologies and standards to produce effective and innovative solutions for drainage schemes and studies to current standards. You will get the opportunity to prepare design calculations, drawings and tender/contract documents and prepare land plans and schedules for access as required. Assistance with preparation required for the value management of drainage schemes. It will be vital to maintain good relations with the Client and other authorities, attending meetings as necessary.
- Contribute to compliance with the Quality Management Systems including site specific audits.
- Production of designs that comply with relevant health and safety legislation, particularly the CDM Regulations.
- Adhere to Health and Safety requirements within the workplace, ensuring awareness of and compliance with general Health and Safety responsibilities as set out in the Health and Safety Management System.
- Assist in the development of colleagues including the check and challenge of scheme designs.
- Contribute to the monthly reporting of progress to clients including review of completion against planned programme
- Perform other duties as may from time to time be reasonably required
 
Key Skills and Qualifications
 
Design experience working on Highways England and or Local Authority contracts dealing with highways maintenance / new build schemes. Ability to communicate well in the written and spoken word. Computer literate with competent ability and knowledge of MS Office Suite.
 
Useful knowledge of software packages
 
-AutoCAD, Civils 3D
-Microdrainage
-FEH
-Flow modelling experience
-Microsoft word/project/excel
 
BEng in Civil Engineering with appropriate experience for the role. IEng with appropriate Institution (ICE, CIWEM, CIHT) desirable.
