We are currently working with a leading client in the North West of the UK who is looking to appoint an experienced SHEQ Manager to support ongoing highways schemes and maintenance works.

This is a 6-month contract opportunity with an immediate start, ideal for a proactive professional who can embed strong SHEQ practices across live projects.

The Role

You will be responsible for overseeing and driving Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) standards across a portfolio of highways projects. This will include:

·Ensuring compliance with SHEQ policies, procedures, and legislation
·Supporting operational teams across highways maintenance and construction activities
·Leading audits and inspections across sites
·Promoting a strong safety-first culture
·Working closely with stakeholders to maintain and improve SHEQ performance

Qualifications & Technical Knowledge

·HNC (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering
·Strong understanding of SHEQ principles within highways or construction environments
·NEBOSH General Certificate
·Chartered Membership of IOSH (or working towards)

OR

·Practitioner Membership of IEMA (PIEMA)

Experience Required

·Minimum 5 years' experience in SHEQ management roles
·Proven background within the highways sector (maintenance or major schemes)
·Experience conducting audits and compliance reviews
·Strong understanding of management systems including:

oISO 14001
oISO 45001
oISO 50001
oNational Highway Sector Schemes

·Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage across all levels of site and operational teams
