Job description
Are you a delivery-focused Senior Project Engineer with extensive heavy civils experience?
Did you start your career as civil/ structural designer?
Rate: £500-£550 per day
Location: Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. 4 days on-site per week.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a major main contractor joint venture delivering a critical section of HS2. Based on-site in Southam, you will act as the key link between construction and design, taking ownership of day-to-day engineering challenges and ensuring works are delivered right the first time.
This role is suited to a Senior Project Engineer with a pragmatic, delivery-focused approach, someone who enjoys being visible on-site, resolving issues promptly, and supporting the construction team with sound technical judgement.
Essential Requirements:
·Minimum of 10 years' post-graduate engineering experience.
·Strong technical knowledge of large rail structures is essential, with earthworks, drainage, and rail MEP systems highly preferred.
·Hybrid background with experience in both consultancy/design and site-based contractor roles.
·Proven experience on major infrastructure projects (e.g., Crossrail, Thames Tideway, or similar £1bn+ projects in rail or major civils).
·Experience working within complex assurance and quality processes.
·Proactive, delivery-focused approach with a willingness to take ownership.
·Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer or working towards.
About the Work:
As Senior Project Engineer, you will oversee all aspects of heavy civil engineering, bridging the gap between design and construction, and taking ownership of technical challenges across a range of workstreams, including:
·Major Structures: Driving the completion of a Canal Viaduct and five new bridges, resolving issues with pier construction, parapet installation, and decking.
·Large-Scale Earthworks: Overseeing a massive operation, including complex soil nailing, bunds, and embankment construction.
·Highways & Drainage: Managing the logistics of road closures, temporary road builds, VRS installation, and associated drainage systems.
·Critical Interfaces: Liaising directly with stakeholders such as the Canal and River Trust, utility providers, and the incoming Rail Systems contractors.
This is a role for a Senior Project Engineer who thrives on being hands-on, offering technical expertise, and ensuring everything is delivered right the first time. If you're looking for a long-term opportunity where you can genuinely influence delivery on a landmark project, this is an excellent opportunity.
