Carrington West are pleased to be working with a well-regarded, independent planning consultancy based in Crawley is looking to appoint a Planner or Senior Town Planner to join its growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a solid grounding in planning who is looking to step into a role where they can have real influence, work closely with clients, and develop their commercial awareness within a supportive and entrepreneurial environment.
The consultancy is a small but ambitious team, working across a broad mix of projects including residential, mixed-use, and commercial developments. Due to continued project wins and a strong pipeline of work, they are now looking for a motivated planner who enjoys taking ownership of projects and building client relationships.
The Role
As a Planner / Senior Town Planner, you will play a key role in supporting and delivering planning strategies and applications across a diverse range of developments. Working closely with senior members of the team, you will be involved in the full planning process and encouraged to contribute commercially to the growth of the business.
Key responsibilities include:
·Preparing and managing planning applications and appeals
·Providing strategic planning advice to clients
·Liaising with local authorities, stakeholders and consultants
·Supporting the delivery of residential and mixed-use development projects
·Assisting with client relationship management and business development
·Contributing to the preparation of planning appraisals and site assessments
About You
The ideal candidate will be proactive, commercially minded and eager to develop their career within a close-knit consultancy environment.
You will likely have:
·A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline
·Around 2-6+ years' planning experience (private consultancy or local authority considered)
·Working knowledge of the UK planning system
·Strong written and verbal communication skills
·The ability to manage workloads and take ownership of projects
·Progress towards or achievement of RTPI Chartership (desirable but not essential)
·A commercial mindset and interest in client-facing work
