Role: Senior Buyer - Water and Environmental
Location: Preston
Salary: up to £60,000 p/a plus package (negotiable)
 
 
My client, a tier 1 contractor on the United Utilities water framework is looking to strengthen their Procurement team with a Senior Buyer. Based on their Preston office with hybrid working available.

What experiences we're looking for with individuals:

  • Capable of interacting at all levels of the business.
  • Conversant in NEC 3 / 4.
  • Commercially aware.
  • Good working knowledge of the construction Industry and supply chains.
  • Work winning support as required ensuring early engagement with key supply chain partners across all disciplines.
  • Capable of driving procurement both subcontract and materials on a project-by-project basis.
  • Production of procurement schedules, bid lists and strategies identifying the need / requirements at an early stage, underpinning operational delivery.
  • Proactive management of the procurement schedules through close interaction with the project teams ensuring allowances are achieved and projects are delivered within budget.
  • Facilitation of procurement meetings with project teams.
  • Ensure continuous supply of required subcontracts and materials de-risking the process with thorough due diligence / governance.
  • Performance management.
  • Capable of driving internal process with rigour.
  • Development of supply chain (SME's) with a history of supply chain relationship management.
  • Close interaction and development of other members of the procurement team.

Experience & Skills

  • Good working knowledge of the Construction Industry.
  • Good technical knowledge of building products and systems.
  • An individual capable of managing own workload as well as working as part of a team.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in procurement function.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • CIPS Qualified (Desirable).
