Safety Systems Commissioning Engineer
Staffordshire
Up to 55k based on experience


My client is a well established in the highly regulated industry and challenging environments. They are developing their team and are looking for permanent staff to help deliver their projects.
The main focus of this role is the commissioning of hard wired site safety systems. This will include testing, configuration and commissioning of control systems and related software engineering activities. Predominantly nuclear software.
Therefore you will need to hold or obtain SC clearance and be a UK Passport holder.


Responsibilities

  • Reporting into the Commissioning Manager this role involves the commissioning of hardwired safety systems within the nuclear industry.
  • Working to commissioning plans describing the commissioning organisation and testing including commissioning team organisation, commissioning procedures required, operator and maintainer staff training, and documentation requirements along with all related testing, verification, acceptance, and quality control procedures.
  • Manage commissioning activities through attending meetings, testing, demonstrations, training events, and performance verifications described in the contract documents and approved commissioning procedures.
  • Always ensuring that commissioning activities are conducted in a controlled and safe manner.
  • Ensure that changes and updates to the certified design and contracts are correctly and adequately managed within the Commissioning Programme, Plans and Procedures in a logical and appropriate manner and appropriate records are generated and maintained.
  • Attend progress / reporting / coordination meetings, which could be daily or weekly during commissioning phases as appropriate to the subjects under discussion.
  • Involvement in the development of control system design and options from customer requirements.
  • Supporting the whole software/systems lifecycle, from design through coding to testing (FAT), installation and configuration, and documentation (working throughout to full QA procedures).

Essential Requirements

  • Holds an appropriate qualification in a relevant discipline normally accompanied by 10 years' experience in a commissioning environment.
  • Has experience producing and reviewing FAT and SAT specifications and requirements tracking documents such as VVRM's.
  • Has experience passing a commissioning engineer SQEP questionnaire and an interview by Commissioning lead and/or client representatives.
  • Ability to assist on a Test and Commissioning Panel.
  • Communicates effectively with Stakeholders including Facility personnel, vendors and sub-contractors.
  • Qualified to undertake live testing up to 230V/ac and previous experience.
  • Can produce training documentation and training to both customer operators and maintainers.
  • In depth knowledge of safety systems. TUV qualifications desirable but not essential.
  • Engineering / Computer related or appropriate engineering qualification (degree/HND) or comparable industrial experience.
