Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to come and join a busy client in the Manchester area.

The main duties of the experienced Quantity Surveyor are:

  • Manage all aspects of cost planning, estimation, and financial control for highways projects
  • Prepare tender documentation, bills of quantities, and contract specifications
  •  Evaluate contractor tenders and provide recommendations for award
  • Administer contracts in line with NEC or similar frameworks
  • Monitor project budgets, forecasts, and expenditure, ensuring value for money
  • Assess and certify interim payments, variations, and final accounts
  • Provide commercial advice to project managers and stakeholders
  • Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures
  • Support continuous improvement and efficiency initiatives within the highways service


The suitable candidate will have experienced in:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related discipline
  • Proven experience in quantity surveying, ideally within highways or civil engineering projects
  • Strong knowledge of contract management, particularly NEC contracts
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in relevant software and financial management systems
