Highways Project Officer
 
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Highways Project Officer to join a local authority on a long-term contract basis. Our client is based in the South West. The role will entail supporting the project management and delivery of strategic transport and public realm infrastructure projects, to include major junctions, public realm improvements and infrastructure. You will also be involved in Carbon reduction in frontline and operational services and climate Change adaptation projects, which are part of our councils drive to a more sustainable future.
 
 
Main Duties are:
 
·Deliver cross department projects, effectively managing the resolution of any risks and issues and enabling teams and partner organisations, making sure that Members, officers, partners, and other stakeholders are briefed in a timely way regarding project progress.
·Develop and co-ordinate detailed project briefs, business cases and associated bid submissions for public realm and highways proposals, commission specialist consultants to assist with the development and execution of major schemes to time and budget.
·Co-ordinating the preparation and presentation of reports on complex issues is a key part of the role and you will be providing and presenting information and giving advice to the Council on government policies and legislation.
·You will motivate a team and manage the work of project individuals, teams, and external consultants, working across different engineering disciplines.
·Provide expert and prompt advice to customers and partners on major issues, ensuring that effective customer relationships are established and maintained and that the Council is aware of implications, risks and benefits and that innovative solutions to complex technical issues have been developed.
