Project Engineer- Coastal/ Flood Risk
 
I am recruiting for a Project Engineer- Coastal/ Flood Risk based in Dorset.
The Project Engineer- Coastal/ Flood Risk will join the Flood & Coastal Erosion Risk Management (FCERM) team. The team is primarily responsible for the delivery and maintenance of flood & coastal protection assets and harbour infrastructure.
 
This is an exciting opportunity to manage capital projects that may include:
 
- Swanage Beach Renourishment Scheme Outline Business Case, Swanage.
- Sandsfoot Castle Coastal Erosion Protection Scheme, Weymouth.
- Weymouth Harbour Wall Remedial Works
 
There may also be a need to support delivery of other coastal asset infrastructure depending upon business requirements. The service works collaboratively with strategic partners, to promote innovation, to secure the best outcomes.
 
Experience required:
 
·Capital construction project management and contract management of consultants and contractors.
·Proven experience of managing complex projects
·Previous experience of working in a large organisation or local authority.
·Service requirements and developments related to the specialist function
·Best practice relevant to the work of the function good understanding of the work of local authorities
·Good understanding of project management principles.
·Project management
·Ability to build and sustain good working relationships with people at all levels, both internal and external
·Excellent oral and written communication skills, including report writing and presentation skills
·Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to think creatively and problem solve effectively
·Ability to present timely information in a user-friendly and understandable format to all levels
·Ability to build up a good knowledge of policy, legislation, and developments in the field
The role is predominantly home-based home and operationally on site. You will need to attend an office day (usually Tuesdays) but this is negotiable with the team leader and does not need to be weekly.
