Job Title: Project Engineer - Water Sector
Location: Gloucester
Salary: Up to £50,000 p/a
The Opportunity
We're working with a well-established and highly respected contractor delivering projects across the Wessex Water framework. We're seeking a Project Engineer with a background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering to take ownership of minor works schemes across both clean and wastewater treatment projects throughout the South West.
This role offers the chance to work on technically varied projects while developing your expertise within the water sector. You'll receive ongoing training, professional development, and industry-specific certifications to support your long-term career progression.
Key Responsibilities
·Manage and deliver projects from planning through to handover.
·Prepare, review, and maintain project and construction documentation.
·Coordinate with subcontractors and internal teams during investigation, design, and build phases.
·Liaise directly with clients, stakeholders, and project partners to ensure successful delivery.
·Attend and contribute to design, progress, and site meetings.
·Monitor progress, manage risk, and support programme reviews.
·Ensure accurate project reporting, financial tracking, and compliance with standards.
About You
·Relevant qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
·Previous experience in a project engineering role (ideally in water, utilities, or process industries).
·Strong organisational, time management, and communication skills.
·Proactive approach with the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
·Commitment to learning and continuing professional development.
Skills & Qualifications
Essential:
·ONC / HNC / B.Eng or NVQ equivalent in engineering.
·CSCS card and EUSR (Clean Water Hygiene) (training can be provided).
·Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
Desirable:
·IOSH or CITB SMSTS (training available through the framework).
·Experience in the water or sewage industry.
·Familiarity with Water Industry Standards.
Technical Skills:
·Knowledge of pumps, control systems, and process plant.
·Understanding of clean and wastewater processes.
·Ability to review RAMS, lift plans, and technical documentation.
