Principle EC&I Design Engineer
Location - Preston
Permanent Position - Flexible working hours
Salary - Negotiable

My client is looking for a committed and established engineer who is ready to join new exciting projects in the nuclear industry. They are looking for a design focused engineer who has nuclear experience or transferable skills from other highly regulated industries. This individual would need relevant qualifications and experience with EC&I Design work. My client is looking for someone who is software sufficient and design orientated with enough technical knowledge and understanding of the industry to be able to technically lead a team, shape the outcome of a project and encourage and assist others in the delivery of that project. This individual would need to be competent and confident in directing multi skilled individuals and team leading.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project manager interactions
  • Appreciation of manufacturing processes relevant to their discipline and specialism.
  • Competent with Tendering tasks
  • Quality Compliance and Assurance
  • Testing important equipment and Supplier Systems
  • Carrying out cost and quality requirements while ensuring time sensitive specific design tasks
  • Scheme design and Manufacture design consisting of design briefs, user requirements specifications, scheme design risk assessment and scheme functional calculations
  • Sound understanding of Manufacturing, assembly and Test techniques
  • Commercial Awareness
  • Ability to interpret written works information
  • Experience in producing documentation in support of applicable UK Regulations e.g. LOLER, PUWER, CDM etc
  • Detailed design generation consisting of system schematics, panel layouts, detailed design risk assessments
  • Take part in client meetings, testing activities and post project review meetings
  • Competent Health & Safety and site Safety

Key Qualifications / Experience

  • Degree (Preferred) or HND/ Higher Apprenticeship in a related discipline
  • Experience managing all levels of design engineers
  • IEng or working towards professional regulation
  • The ability to use Design software and Design tools
  • Ability to produce hand calculations
  • Design experience with PLC/SCADA systems
  • Rockwell PLC Programming training
