Job description

Carrington West are assisting their local authority client based in Somerset in the search for 3 Planning Officers at varying levels - Officer - Senior - Principal, each role will be offered on an initial 6-month basis.
 
All successful candidates will be expected to have sufficient experience supporting a local authority Development Management team.
 
Professional Responsibilities
Officer and Senior planners - To manage a caseload of householder and minor applications
Principal officer - Experienced planning officers required to progress major and/or significant planning applications. Required to have significant post qualification experience to deliver development management solutions for new development including planning applications, strategic and/or major developments, advice, appeals, and related compliance, and enforcement. This role also provides technical advice and guidance to others (including other professionals) involved in delivery of Development Management and may have responsibility for managing resources within a project or team (budget and/or people) and for supporting the decision-making process for planning applications within the service.

The contract offered is for an initial 6-month duration with the potential to extend, the council are looking for candidates who will be able to hit the ground running and are offering flexible working arrangements with site visits once a fortnight
 
A comprehensive working knowledge and experience of Development Management is essential. It would be beneficial to hold a Planning Degree or equivalent Planning qualification and full membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute, although this is not mandatory.
