Infrastructure Technician
I'm working with a respected civil engineering consultancy looking to grow its team with the addition of a skilled and motivated Infrastructure Technician. This is an excellent opportunity for a technician with experience in the civil engineering sector who is eager to broaden their skills and contribute to a variety of infrastructure and residential schemes.
You'll work closely with engineers and other team members to support the design and delivery of roads, drainage, and utility infrastructure. This role will suit someone with strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach to project work.
Key Responsibilities:
·Prepare detailed design drawings and technical outputs for civil engineering and housing projects
·Assist senior engineers with design work, calculations, and modelling
·Use CAD and other industry-standard software to produce accurate and compliant designs
·Support the design of surface and foul water drainage systems using WINDES or similar software
·Assist in the preparation of road designs using PDS or equivalent tools
·Compile technical information for applications to local authorities, Scottish Water, and other statutory bodies
·Undertake site visits and surveys to record existing infrastructure and services
·Help prepare flood risk assessments, technical reports, and supporting documentation
·Maintain accurate project records and ensure work meets technical quality standards
·Carry out checks on drawings and documents before issue
·Liaise with internal teams and external consultants to support project delivery
·Follow company health & safety procedures and CDM regulations
·Keep up to date with industry standards, undertaking training and CPD as required
·Provide general technical assistance across the team as needed
What We're Looking For:
We're seeking someone with relevant qualifications in civil engineering or a related discipline (HNC/HND or equivalent) and experience in an infrastructure or civil engineering consultancy environment. You should be confident using CAD and other design software, with a basic understanding of drainage and highways design. The ideal candidate will have a proactive attitude, a focus on accuracy, and the ability to work well as part of a team.
