Job description
We're recruiting an experienced and proactive Housing Officer to deliver a high-quality housing management service across a mixed-tenure portfolio. This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking housing team committed to providing safe, sustainable homes and excellent customer service to residents.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing tenancies from start to finish - ensuring compliance, tackling tenancy breaches, supporting residents to sustain their homes, and helping to build safe and thriving communities. You'll play a key role in resolving complex housing issues, offering guidance to Assistant Housing Officers, and ensuring the service meets high operational and regulatory standards.
Experience using Orchard (MRI Enterprise) is preferred, and you'll need to be confident working independently with minimal training or supervision.
The Role
· Manage a defined patch of general needs properties, delivering a proactive and responsive housing management service.
· Handle tenancy issues including breaches, complaints, and ASB in line with legislation and policy.
· Conduct tenancy audits, home visits, and estate inspections to ensure properties and neighbourhoods are well maintained.
· Support residents to sustain their tenancies, including signposting for welfare and financial support where needed.
· Provide informal advice and guidance to Assistant Housing Officers to ensure consistency across the team.
· Work collaboratively with internal departments and external agencies to resolve safeguarding concerns and tenancy issues.
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records using the Orchard (MRI Enterprise) system.
· Ensure all housing services are delivered in accordance with regulatory standards and organisational values.
Key Requirements
· Proven experience in tenancy and neighbourhood management within a local authority or housing association.
· Strong understanding of housing legislation, tenancy management, and ASB processes.
· Excellent communication and customer service skills, with a proactive and solution-focused approach.
· Confident using housing management systems - experience with Orchard (MRI Enterprise) is highly desirable.
· Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
· Team-oriented mindset, with the ability to support and guide junior colleagues.
· Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for site visits.
