Job Vacancy: Highways Operative
Location: Honiton
Contract Type: Initial 3 month contract
Rate: £10.50-£12.50 p/hour
 
Our client is currently seeking a Highways Operative to join their team delivering essential drainage and highway maintenance services across Exeter and Mid Devon. This role involves operating specialist vehicles and machinery to support a programme of cyclical highway works.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
·Operate and drive an 18-tonne Gully Whale tanker (Gully Sucker).
·Carry out routine cleansing and maintenance of highway gullies.
·Ensure the vehicle is roadworthy and safe to use at all times.
·Perform basic maintenance on machinery, including cleaning filters and greasing components.
·Work effectively as part of a team delivering drainage tasks in line with an annual programme.
·Use a tablet or digital device to update maintenance and inspection records.

Essential Requirements:
 
·Valid CSCS Card.
·12D T1/T2 Traffic Management qualification.
·Experience in highways or drainage works.
·Basic mechanical understanding for equipment maintenance.
·Small plant operation tickets (desirable).
Desirable Skills:
 
·Strong teamwork and communication skills.
·Familiarity with digital record-keeping systems.
·Flexibility to work across various sites in the Exeter and Mid Devon areas.
