Highways Development Control Engineer
 
As a result of a significant investment in our client's transport network and wider infrastructure in the coming years, an excellent opportunity has arisen for a Highway Engineer assist with S.278 agreements on a long-term contract basis, including both approvals and monitoring of delivery stages.
 
As the successful candidate, you will join a large and experienced team providing professional, technical support and advice to the service manager, elected members, internal departments and the public to support with the assessment of technical submission for developer-led schemes.
 
Key responsibilities:
·Consider and assess Technical Submissions (S.278,), submitted for developments across the region.
·Prepare advice in respect of highway design and required modifications to mitigate impacts and ensure robust highway infrastructure.
·New Street Construction
·Section 278 Highway Act Agreements
·Private Street Works
·To monitor the progress of new developments and to maintain a current register so reports can readily be produced and levels of income secured.
 
Key experience required:
·Experience of undertaking some legal functions in highways related to S.278 works
·Experience in the implementation of works on the Highways.
·Substantial experience in the creation of new streets from design approval to adoption
·Experience of working with outside agencies in co-ordinating activities
·Experience of promoting recreational activities
·Experience of advising on policies issues
·Experience of monitoring and assessing maintenance and improvement work
