The Role and Responsibilities
As a Senior Transport Planner, you will play an important role in delivering and managing transport planning projects while supporting the continued growth of the transport planning team.
In this Senior Transport Planner role, you will be doing the following:
·Managing and successfully delivering transport planning projects, including day-to-day management of projects and client relationships
·Undertaking transportation and traffic engineering analysis including traffic modelling, database and spreadsheet analysis, and proprietary modelling software interrogation
·Assisting in the development of planning stage highway design solutions for proposed developments
·Preparing high-quality technical reports, documentation and presentations in line with national standards and client requirements
·Collaborating with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity and coordination of overall project designs
·Liaising with project managers and clients to keep all stakeholders informed of project developments
·Assisting in the resolution of complex technical issues
·Managing documentation and drawing registers associated with projects
·Providing transport planning advice to colleagues and clients
·Monitoring and managing project budgets and programmes
Skills and Experience Required
To be successful as a Senior Transport Planner, you will ideally bring:
·A degree in a transport-related or numerical discipline such as Transport Planning, Mathematics, Geography or Civil Engineering, or equivalent
·Experience working on development planning projects, ideally within a consultancy environment in the UK
·A strong understanding of transport planning principles including trip generation, trip distribution and design standards
·Experience preparing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans
·Detailed knowledge of TRICS, Junctions 10 and LinSig
·Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex transport data
·Competence using Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project
·Excellent written and verbal communication skills
·A proactive and collaborative approach with strong problem-solving ability
·Commercial awareness and the confidence to provide clear and professional advice to clients
·A full UK driving licence
Experience with CAD, junction design, road safety engineering or junction assessment would be advantageous.
