Job Title: Highways Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Contract: Permanent
Location: Stockport
Salary: Up to £40,000
Holidays: 35 days, including bank holidays (7 days allocated to Christmas shutdown)

A well-established civil engineering and highways contractor in the North West is seeking a skilled Civils Quantity Surveyor. With over 70 years of industry experience, the company has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions through long-term framework contracts and negotiated projects.
The Role:

Key Responsibilities:
·Safeguard the financial interests of the business while maintaining strong working relationships with stakeholders.
·Conduct site measurements and prepare weekly cost and production reports.
·Prepare cost forecasts and collaborate with site teams on quotations and estimates.
·Oversee subcontractor management, including order placement, payment assessments, and rate negotiations.
·Produce and submit valuations to clients.
·Interpret drawings and collaborate with teams to finalize estimates.
·Negotiate and agree on final accounts with stakeholders in a timely manner.
·Monitor stock control and provide financial reports.
·Assist with the preparation and settlement of accounts and support financial reporting processes.
·Maintain accurate and up-to-date project records.
Candidate Requirements:
Essential Skills & Experience:
·Experience in civil engineering, specifically in highways.
·Proficiency in working with private and public sector clients and familiarity with NEC (primarily).
·Commercially aware with strong people management skills to support and mentor colleagues.
·Comprehensive understanding of project components and construction costs.
·Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
·Strong organizational skills, self-motivation, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
