Job description

Highway Maintenance Engineer
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Highway Maintenance Engineer to come and join a busy client in the Liverpool area to help deliver civil engineering projects and provide specialist engineering services which enhance and maintain the road network and meet company business plan objectives.
 
The key responsibilities are:
 
·Design and manage the delivery of highway related construction and maintenance projects which may be complex and significant to achieve quality, programme and financial targets meeting internal and external clients and stakeholder requirements.
·Carry out assessments of various highway resurfacing projects in order to prepare and produce the relevant schemes, ready to be put out to tender.
·Provide specialist design, technical and cost advice to internal and external clients to support delivery of complex and large-scale projects across the organisation and as a standalone service.
·Adhere to Health and Safety management systems, processes and requirements ensuring full adherence to health, safety and environmental legislation, policy and best practice and safeguarding staff contractors and members of the public.
 
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
 
·Degree in Civil Engineering or a related subject and post qualification relevant experience or equivalent knowledge gained through practical experience in a highway and / or civil engineering design environment.
·Previous local authority experience.
·Strong ICT skills including competence in specialist computer applications used to support engineering design activities including working knowledge of computer aided design and knowledge of data management environments.
·Working knowledge of current highway and civil engineering design standards, contracts, and procedures.
·Knowledge of health and safety, technical, traffic management and other legislation and good practice appropriate to highway and civil engineering construction and maintenance activities.
·Full UK driving Licence.
