Highway Inspection Manager
Nottinghamshire
£50,000 - £55,000 per annum
Are you an experienced Highway Inspection professional ready to step into a permanent leadership role?
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Highway Inspection Manager to lead and develop a statutory inspection service across Nottinghamshire, ensuring full compliance and the continued safety of the highway network.
This is a key management position responsible for leading a team of Highway Inspectors and overseeing a risk-based inspection regime in line with the Highways Act 1980. You will play a central role in protecting the authority's Section 41 defence, driving performance standards, and ensuring the network is maintained safely and effectively.
Key responsibilities include:
·Leading and managing a team of Highway Inspectors across the county.
·Ensuring inspections are delivered in line with legislation, codes of practice and local policy.
·Overseeing quality assurance of inspection records to support statutory defence.
·Managing third-party insurance claims and providing technical input where required.
·Monitoring KPIs, performance data and service delivery standards.
·Managing budgets, resource allocation and inspection programmes.
·Engaging with elected members, senior stakeholders, contractors and the public.
·Driving continuous improvement, service development and digital innovation.
·Ensuring robust health & safety compliance across the inspection function.
To be successful in this role, you will bring strong operational and leadership experience within highway inspection and maintenance.
The ideal candidate will have:
·Proven experience managing or supervising a team of Highway Inspectors.
·Extensive knowledge of the Highways Act 1980 and risk-based inspection regimes.
·Experience managing Section 41 statutory defence processes and record audits.
·Strong performance management and service improvement experience.
·Experience managing workloads, resources and budgets within a highways environment.
