We are looking for Highway Engineers to support our clients highways design team and to produce highways designs, drawings, reports and supporting documentation in accordance with the brief, timescales and budgetary allocation.
This is a hybrid working role where you will be required to work in Manchester 1 day per week. You can work in the office more regularly if you wish. There is a significant portfolio of work, so this will be a long term contract position working with an established design team. This position falls inside IR35.
 
Key experience and skills required
 
- Prepare preliminary and detailed designs in accordance with approved design procedures for local and national authorities
- Provide support to the Senior Engineer within the design team on various design duties including but not limited to:
- Assist in the production of design schedules, Health, Safety and Welfare contract documentation in accordance with the Construction, Design & Management Regulations 2015
- Production of design drawings
- The delivery of technical and feasibility studies that satisfy client's technical specifications
- Assessment of potential risks, materials, and costs
- Comply with client's guidelines and regulations including permits, safety etc and deliver technical files and other technical documentation as required
- Conduct on site investigations and analyse data (maps, reports, tests, drawings and other)
- Contribute towards technical excellence and innovation across the team
- Provide innovative solutions to engineering problems
- Agree delivery targets with senior staff and report regularly on progress towards milestones
- Oversee and mentor junior staff
- Maintain good relations with clients and other authorities, attending meetings as necessary
- Promote Health & Safety in the workplace, setting a good example to other employees
- Member of a professional body, working towards IEng / CEng status
