Highways Assistant Quantity Surveyor - Build Your Career on a Major Highways Project in Guildford
You're an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking to develop your commercial skills on a significant highways scheme while being supported by experienced senior professionals. This role gives you hands-on exposure to major infrastructure works and a clear pathway to progress your career in highways and civil engineering.
You will be joining a respected multi-disciplinary main contractor with a strong presence across the UK highways and civil engineering sector. My client is known for delivering high-profile infrastructure projects, investing in their people, and creating an environment where you will be supported, mentored and encouraged to grow as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor.
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will be doing the following as part of the commercial team on a major highways project in the Guildford area:
·Supporting the Senior Quantity Surveyor and Commercial Manager with day-to-day commercial activities
·Assisting with the review and administration of contract documents
·Helping to procure subcontractors and suppliers, including issuing enquiry packages
·Assisting with tender analysis and subcontractor comparisons
·Supporting the management of subcontractor accounts from procurement through to final account
·Assisting with the preparation and submission of client valuations
·Helping to manage variations, change control and early warning notices
·Attending internal, client and subcontractor commercial meetings
·Supporting cost control, forecasting and financial reporting
·Assisting with claims preparation and record keeping
·Ensuring commercial processes, company policies and legislation are followed
·Developing strong working relationships across the project team and supply chain
To be successful in this Assistant Quantity Surveyor role, you will bring:
·Some experience in a commercial or quantity surveying role within highways, civil engineering or infrastructure
·A relevant qualification or working towards a degree / HNC / HND in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
·A proactive and organised approach with a willingness to learn
·Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
·A solid understanding of construction processes and commercial principles
·Competence in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
In return for your contribution as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will receive:
·Salary of up to £40,000, dependent on experience
