Hardware Engineer

Role Summary:

We are seeking Control Panel/Hardware design engineers to join our client, contributing to our world-class team gearing up for exciting upcoming projects. The role involves designing hardware systems, mainly using proprietary components for control panels, with a focus on PLCs, MCCs, Drives & Controls, and Switchgear. Responsibilities include preparing, reviewing, and checking calculations and designs. The position may require limited travel, including periods away at customer sites for surveys and solution design.

Essential Requirements:

  • Knowledge of designing electrical panels with PLCs and LV distribution systems.
  • Design experience in electrical cabling and containment systems.
  • Minimum education level: degree or HND with additional project implementation experience.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical, Microsoft Office (Word & Excel).
  • Ability to obtain security clearance (SC level, possibly DV).
  • Excellent communication skills for client interaction and mentoring.
  • Capability to mentor and develop engineers and technicians.
  • Good understanding of related safety and environmental legislation.
  • Ability to develop technical solutions meeting project and customer expectations.
  • Thorough understanding of or working towards BS7671 IEE 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • Understanding of IEC BS EN 61439-1, Low-voltage switchgear, and control gear assemblies.
  • Confidence to collaborate within a multidisciplinary design team.
  • Collaboration with production to oversee the design completion.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Previous experience in highly regulated industries.
  • Understanding of EMC practices.
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineering status or working towards it.
  • MEng qualification.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Site experience (survey/install).
