Freelance General Foreman - Highways & Civils
12-Month Contract | Early 2026 Start | Peterborough / Norfolk / Cambridge

I'm currently recruiting on behalf of a reputable civil engineering and highways contractor who is looking to appoint an experienced Freelance General Foreman to support long-term works across Peterborough, Norfolk and the Cambridge area.

This is a 12-month freelance opportunity, starting early in the new year, working across an active scheme in Hethel as well as additional works around Cambridge.

The Role
·Supervising day-to-day site activities on highways and civil engineering schemes
·Managing operatives and subcontractors to ensure safe, efficient delivery
·Ensuring works are delivered in line with company procedures and health & safety standards
·Working closely with site management and engineering teams across multiple sites

Essential Requirements
·Proven experience supervising a broad range of civil engineering projects
·Strong background in highways environments
·CSCS card
·SMSTS
·EUSR
·Health & Safety at Work qualification
·Good working knowledge of site processes and company procedures

Desirable (Not Essential)
·SEATS
·Temporary Works Supervisor
·Confined Spaces

Skills & Attributes
·Strong technical ability with a solid civils supervision track record
·Effective people management and team-working skills
·Clear and confident communication style
·Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders
·Reasonable IT skills, particularly within Microsoft Office
