Flood Risk Engineer
 
An excellent contract opportunity has arisen for a Flood Risk Engineer with previous experience to join a busy Flood Risk team in the South Yorkshire area and assist the team with planning applications surrounding flood risk and drainage matters.
 
The Main Duties and Responsibilities Are:
·Provide expert advice to Planning Department relating to drainage matters for enquiries and applications received by the Council.
·Preparing flood risk assessments and drainage assessments for development sites.
·Controlling developers' connections to the Council's existing drainage systems.
·Providing advice to internal and external clients and public regarding drainage matters.
·Hydraulic modelling using Micro Drainage or similar.
·Undertaking inspections and surveys inspections and prepare technical reports.
·To use computer software such as AutoCAD and Map Info. To assist the Group Manager to lead on the roles and responsibilities of the Council as Lead Local Flood Authority, under the Floods and Water Management Act 2010 and Flood Risk Regulations 2009
 
 
Essential skills, knowledge and experience required to fulfil the role include, but are not limited to:
·Appropriate civil engineering background with knowledge of Hydraulic Modelling and Micro Drainage.
·Experience in delivering flood risk projects.
·Experience working around planning applications.
·Aware of responsibilities under the CDM Regulations.
·Good written and communication skills.
