Role: Estimator - Water Projects
Location: Glasgow - home working
Rate: £33 per hour - Umbrella or Limited
Duration: 12 months
Start Date: ASAP
 
I am looking for a Estimator with experience in industrial water projects for a client of mine working on Scottish Water.
The location will be based in Glasgow and the candidate will be required to attend the office 3 days per week, 2 days hybrid working.
 
Responsibilities include:
 
·Ensure projects are validated, costs assured, data integrity of projects submitted from Delivery Partners
·Support the development of processes that are fit-for-purpose to achieve the business objectives
·Work collaboratively with our internal customers and Delivery Partners and build positive relationships
·Understand and apply the contract in a reasonable manner to the agreement of prices for all projects
·Always look to improve ways of working by ensuring our processes are LEAN
·Work with all parties to develop our cost models and data within BES to allow a continuous improvement environment
·Ability to handle a fast-past environment and competing priorities, whilst ensuring that the costing accuracy is at an acceptable standard whilst minimising any delays or blockers to projects.
·Estimate in line with the BES rules, and best practices/processes including the CESMM and MESMM methods of measurement.
·Working closely to support colleagues within the estimating and wider commercial team.
·Awareness of the DV1 Behavioural Charter.

·Technical Skills, knowledge and Experience Required
·Good IT skills, IT skills including Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint and the ability to adapt to new systems quickly.
·Knowledge and understanding of NEC suite of contracts and its underlying principles and an all-round good commercial acumen
·Construction experience to ensure the issues being negotiated are understood using clear knowledge and understanding of methodologies and principles used within the Water & Wastewater processes (With Emphasis on MEICA & Civils)
·The ability to agree and negotiate reasonable solutions which provides an acceptable compromise for both Scottish Water and our Alliance Partners whilst complying with the DV1 Contract and also being able to demonstrate at any audit that we are providing our Customers with Value for Money.
·Good understanding of asset hierarchy and BES rules
·Good understanding of Methods of Measurement used in construction Including CESMM and MESMM
·Experience of estimating Civil/MEICA projects
·Highly numerate with an ability to interpret complex information, including technical drawings and scope documents, and present the information logically.
