Job description

Are you a delivery-led Engineering Manager with extensive heavy civils experience?

Have you successfully worked across both design and construction on major rail projects?

Salary: £70,000 – £90,000 per annum
Location: Southam, Warwickshire. 4 days on site per week.

This is an opportunity to join a major main contractor joint venture delivering a critical section of HS2. Based on site in Southam, you will act as the link between construction and design, taking ownership of day-to-day engineering challenges and ensuring works are delivered right first time.

This is a delivery-focused role suited to a pragmatic Engineering Manager who enjoys being visible on site, resolving issues quickly and supporting the construction team with sound technical judgement.

Essential requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ post-graduate engineering experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of large rail structures essential, earthworks, drainage, and rail MEP systems highly preferred.
  • Hybrid background with experience in both consultancy/design and site-based contractor roles
  • Proven experience on major infrastructure schemes (e.g.  Crossrail, HS2, Thames Tideway, or similar £1bn+ projects in rail or major civils)
  • Experience working within complex assurance and quality processes
  • Proactive, delivery-focused approach with a willingness to take ownership
  • Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer or working towards.

About the work:

Your domain will cover every aspect of heavy civil engineering. You will be the crucial link between the design and the reality of construction, taking ownership of technical challenges across a huge portfolio of works, including:

  • Major Structures: Driving the completion of a Canal Viaduct and five new bridges, resolving issues with pier construction, parapet installation, and decking.
  • Large-Scale Earthworks: Overseeing a massive operation, including complex soil nailing, bunds, and embankment construction.
  • Highways & Drainage: Managing the logistics of road closures, temporary road builds, VRS installation, and associated drainage systems.
  • Critical Interfaces: Liaising directly with stakeholders like the Canal and River Trust, utility providers, and the incoming Rail Systems contractors.

This is a delivery-focused role for a pragmatic Engineering Manager who thrives on being visible on site, providing the sound technical judgement needed to resolve issues quickly and ensure everything is built right, first time.

If you’re an Engineering Manager looking for a long-term role where you can genuinely influence delivery on a landmark project, this is an excellent opportunity!
