Design Technician (Entry level)
Salary 20,000-25,000.
Role Overview
The role of technician is ideal for those starting their career within the infrastructure industry and build their knowledge and experience by supporting a wider team with engineering projects. The role is to assist in the preparation, planning, design, and delivery of capital schemes, including engineering drawings, design, reports, and calculations in line with the Annual Plan and achieving the contractual KPI's.
The successful candidate will require openness and drive for the adoption of innovation and technology to enhance air quality, reduce carbon emissions, drive safety and the positive wellbeing for employees and those who we interact with.
 
The successful candidate will have
Skills:
- Ability to prioritise own work, to support the business
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external parties
- Good written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills
- Desirable - AutoCAD Skills
- Desirable - A understanding of Health & Safety legislation
- Desirable - A basic understanding of highway design and highway construction methodologies
- Desirable - A basic understanding of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges & Manual for Streets
Qualifications:
- Desirable - BTEC in construction (Level 3) or Diploma in construction (Level 3)
- Desirable - Full driving licence
 
Experience:
- Experience in a Highways role is desirable
 
You would be responsible for
General Responsibilities:
- Understands the overall functions, aims and directions of Transport for Buckinghamshire, and how their specific area of responsibility fits into those objectives.
- Proactively undertake and record Continuing Professional Development
- Support Equality & Diversity activities
- Support Health, Safety, Environment and Quality across Transport for Buckinghamshire
- To carry out any other reasonable duties that may be directed or implied from time to time commensurate to the post and/or organisational requirements.
