Senior Bridge Inspector
Location: Central London (office based in East London with site travel)
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum
Hours: 40 hours per week (variable shift pattern)

The Role
An established highways services provider working in partnership with a local authority is seeking an experienced Highways Inspector (Structures) to join its inspection team.
This role will involve carrying out structural inspections across the central London network, ensuring all highway structures are inspected in line with defined programmes, performance targets, and safety standards. The position offers a mix of site-based inspections and office-based reporting, with site work typically required around once per week.
The role includes participation in an on-call rota and occasional night and weekend working, depending on programme requirements.

Key Responsibilities
·Undertake Principal Inspections (PIs) and General Inspections (GIs) in line with the agreed inspection programme
·Produce high-quality inspection reports in accordance with client specifications
·Review and quality-check inspection reports produced by other team members
·Monitor progress against programme and cost targets, supporting the achievement of margin and efficiency objectives
·Prepare and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RA/MS) for structures inspections
·Promote and lead safe working practices, demonstrating a strong commitment to zero incidents
·Support maintenance and scheme delivery teams to achieve operational objectives
·Attend and assist with network incidents as required
·Ensure all work complies with corporate policies, contractual requirements, and local business objectives
·Be available for night-time and weekend working where required by the inspection programme

About You
You will be a qualified and experienced structures inspector with a strong safety-first mindset and a proven background in highway structures.

Essential Requirements:
·Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
·Demonstrable experience undertaking General and Principal Inspections of highway structures
·Strong understanding of bridge condition indicators
·Experience leading and carrying out structural inspections
·Commitment to high standards of health and safety
·Full UK driving licence
·Valid CSCS card
·Relevant safety competencies, including PTS, Confined Space, and IPAF

Desirable:
·Working knowledge of BridgeStation
·Experience in the design of concrete and/or steel highway structures
·Background in the construction and maintenance of highway structures and associated assets
·Ability to work at height and in or near water
·Valid PTS/BTA
