Commercial Services Director
 
Salary: £100,000 - £110,000 per year
 
Our client is looking for a Commercial Services Director to join their Senior Leadership team. The Commercial Services Director position is based in Nottingham but comes with an excellent flexible working package.
 
The Commercial Services Director will be accountable on behalf of the organisation for the development and delivery of all commercial activity across the Highways Network ensuring robust cost planning, tenders, and contractual commercial and financial controls are in place.
 
Main accountabilities for the Commercial Service Director role:
·Be accountable for the development and delivery of the company's commercial strategy, and risk strategy ensuring that all aspects are linked to the business plan to support the delivery of the organisation's business objectives.
 
·Be accountable on all commercial and contractual matters, communicating such information, and any subsequent changes to the Managing Director and Senior Leadership Team, together with leading the successful negotiation of these matters with stakeholders.
 
·Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with internal / external stakeholders and supply chain partners which support developing activities. maintaining an awareness of both internal and external factors which impact the business.
 
·Act as a point of escalation for any complex, high profile and/or politically sensitive issues. Liaising with PR and media bodies as required.
 
·Work collaboratively and closely with the Finance Director as required and including on monthly and quarterly management information reporting.
 
·Lead a team of commercial experts, coaching, supporting and developing them to deliver a high quality, fit for purpose service to their stakeholders and customers.
 
·Be accountable for ensuring the development, implementation, monitoring and review commercial governance policies and procedures for the organisation.
 
·Support all employees of the business to have, and maintain, the appropriate commercial skills, knowledge and abilities in line with business needs ensure that all commercial activities meet or improve upon key contractual / non-contractual performance indicators (KPI's).
 
Experience and Skills needed for the Commercial Services Director role:
·Chartered Civil Engineer / Quantity Surveyor with significant Post Qualification or relevant experience within highways, civil engineering or construction background.
 
·Proven experience of managing a multi-disciplined team, leading and influencing them to foster good working relationships to meet the desired outcomes and objectives of the business.
 
·Proven experience of development and delivery of effective commercial and risk strategies / plans, underpinned by robust governance arrangements.
 
 
·Proven working knowledge of standard forms of contract and knowledge / ability to challenge tenders and cost plan preparation in order to provide robust value for money outcomes. Specifically, NEC contracts.
 
·Excellent networking skills, with a strong external profile, demonstrating an in depth understanding of the wider political arena.
 
·Proven track record of development and delivery of effective commercial target operating model linked to sustainable business profitability and growth in line with business forecast / targets.
