Job description

Our client are a large civil and structural company working across multiple disciplines in the UK infrastructure market. They work with several companies to help build, maintain and deliver some of the UK's largest projects as well as supporting ongoing infrastructure needs.
 
They are currently looking for a Lead Engineer to work on a Civil Structural project in the Nuclear industry. Working on a decommissioning site, you will be working on the build and construction of encapsulation pods.  Working from the Design instructions from the design office through to the completion of the construction, you will be responsible for leading the project. You will be required to be on site 4 out of 5 days a week. And the ideal candidate will need to be SC cleared and have previous experience of working at Sellafield.
 
Responsibilities:
 
Senior Structural Engineer reporting to the Area Lead Engineer 000 and supporting the Principal Civil/Structural Engineer on a full time basis:
·Answering technical queries, requests for information and resolving non conformances
·Produce structural calculations and details that are necessary for site modifications (with approval of the permanent works team)
·Ensure the engineering design intent is met as per the drawings and specifications
·Review contractor method statements, inspection plans etc.
·Review temporary works designs
·Face to face interfacing with construction to understand requirements, issues and work priorities, assessing any impacts against the design and scope of work required
·Regular interfacing of construction issues with the permanent works design team
·Majority of time is expected to be based on site.
·Awareness of CDM Regulations and duties as a Designer.
·Nuclear experience essential
 
 
 
Requirements
 
·Degree or HNC qualified, Chartered Engineer (MIStructE or MICE) with 5+ years post-Chartership experience.
·A pro-active, self-starter with good communication, analytical and team working skills.
·Understanding of CDM Regulations.
