Carrington West are assisting their local authority client based in Yorkshire, in the search for an experienced Building Control Surveyor. The post will be offered on an initial 6-month contract (Then rolling) with work evenly split on site and home based.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1.Support the Senior Building Control Officer in developing the Service Plan and the attainment of performance targets
2.Act as point of referral for enquiries, responding positively with courtesy and a high degree of professionalism
3.Undertake work allocated to you by the Senior Building Control Officer in accordance with the performance standards adopted and the role of the post
4.Be responsible for resolving service delivery issues in relation to the professional activities of your post
5.Demonstrate initiative by being proactive in identifying service development issues and seek commercial opportunities
6.Be responsible for examining building regulations applications, monitoring building work in progress and undertake other duties in relation to the function of your post, the production of any necessary correspondence, the preparation of any necessary reports, schedules, notices, specifications etc
7.Be responsible for analysing consultation papers, legislation etc. relevant to the work of the Building Control Team
8.Be responsible for initiating and co-ordinating action concerning the needs, abilities and aspirations of disabled people in relation to design and the development process
9.To undertake work related to dangerous structures, demolition, safety at sports grounds and provide advice on licensing
The council are looking for candidates capable of hitting the ground running; you should be qualified as a Chartered Member (MRICS) and hold a a bachelor's degree, approved professional qualification or 10 years of relevant experience.
